President’s Message:

The Courage to be Imperfect…

As a struggling perfectionist, I would like to share some thoughts with each of you fellow homeschooling perfectionist moms…

Yes, I really do believe we are all perfectionists in our own way. J

It takes a tremendous amount of courage to do the work we do…and it takes even more courage to do it all imperfectly! Try as we might, there is always something that stands in the way of the perfectly planned lesson, day, year…

courage

Good news!!! It is okay to not be perfect. It is okay to not really know the exact path you might follow. It is okay to mess up once in a while…we all do! It is okay to have less than ideal days. It is okay to take a day off here and there, just because. It is okay have things lay in a mess all about you as you ask yourself in a most puzzled manner how and why this could be possible with the perfect plan you thought was going to play out before you.

My advice to each of us is to jump in with a wide open heart, both feet, a little bit of crazy and a whole lot of willingness to see it all through --even when that perfect plan falls into pieces around us, as it will from time to time.

heart wide open

It would do us well to throw out the perfectionist mindset for a bit of time and realize that we are dealing with kids and quite honestly, they are just gonna mess up our best laid plan and exchange it for something even better! So let go, have fun, realize that some days you are just going to have to go with the flow and dump that perfect plan right into the trash!!!

With each passing year, I tend to think I will really have it all together this year, but lo and behold…life happens and I just have to put a smile on my face and keep on swimming! And you know what, it really is okay, it is actually better than okay, it is on those days that magic happens all around me, if I allow it to and if I allow myself to see it.

Wishing you all the courage you need as a “new” year quickly approaches…may your days be filled with crazy and amazing things that make your heart melt with love for this fabulous job you’ve taken on! And may you be filled with peace that it is truly okay and pretty darn wonderful to do it all imperfectly!

Huge Hugs,

Stacey
