Frequently Asked Questions about DHSA:
What does DHSA stand for?
DHSA stands for Deseret Homeschool Association. 'Deseret' means 'honeybee' and is a distinctly LDS word.
What does LDS stand for?
LDS is the acronym used by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (also known as Mormons) to differentiate themselves from other Christian denominations.
Is DHSA endorsed by the LDS church?
No. DHSA is not endorsed by or officially affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Do I have to be LDS/Mormon to be a member of DHSA?
No. All homeschooling and potential homeschooling families are welcome to join.
Does DHSA require members to sign a statement of faith?
No. Again, all homeschooling families and potential homeschooling families are welcome. Please be aware that DHSA was originally created to support LDS homeschoolers and that our meetings and events begin and end with prayer, and that members openly discuss their faith. We ask only that members and guests be respectful of these practices and experiences.
Does DHSA endorse specific homeschool methods or ideologies?
No. There are many philosophies regarding home education, and we do not endorse any specific method or ideology. We exist solely to offer social support and resources for homeschooling families.
Does DHSA endorse any specific political ideology?
No. Members may not use the blog, e-mail lists, facebook groups, or any other designated DHSA forum to promote political parties, candidates, etc. Doing so will result in termination of membership.
Can I advertise on the DHSA blog?
At this time, only advertisements relating to homeschooling (curricula sales, classes, tutoring, etc.) are accepted. Please contact the DHSA president for more information about advertising: dhsa.president@gmail.com
