President’s Message:

I’d like to share a thought with you before the hustle and bustle set in and you have hardly a moment to catch your breath. That thought is to simply ponder the gift of presence.

We can quickly become entangled in the trap of providing the perfect Christmas for everyone on our list. In so doing, the month of December is often filled with stress, worry and running here and there and everywhere. It can so easily become all about the presents and less about presence.

Presence in the moment, presence in the reason for our celebration, presence in the time we are with our family.

Everyone loves a gift or two that has been chosen just for them, especially children; but has gift giving gone a bit overboard? Is the sacrifice of our time worth the material item we’ve replaced it with?

I’m going to go out on a limb for just a moment and suggest that quite possibly the gift of your time may mean more to your children than a stack of beautifully wrapped packages you’ve placed under the tree for them to open on Christmas morning. Please do not get me wrong, I LOVE to give gifts just as much as anyone else…I find immense pleasure in watching someone I love open a gift I carefully selected just for them!

I love the magic that comes with the Christmas Season.

There is a sweetness that seems to evade many people the majority of the year; yet, during the time from Thanksgiving to the New Year, a gentle, heartwarming charm enters the hearts of most. It is not uncommon to witness a softness in demeanor of those around you or to be the recipient of a genuine smile from a passing stranger. This spirit of Christmas becomes contagious and we have the desire to share with those we love.

Sharing time with our friends and families is the best ~ Maybe spend a little time in planning and creating some family traditions that will bring delight to your family for years to come…

As you go about your days, may you each be blessed with the presence of those you love and adore and may your days be filled with the Love of our Savior.

Wishing you a beautiful Christmas!

  1. I miss this group. Thanks for sharing the blog. Since moving to Massachusetts over 5 years ago, we have essentially been homeschooling on our own. I've met a family here our there, checked out a few homeschool groups, (one would have made me sign a statement of faith saying that the Bible is the only word of God, and the other, a secular one was extremely liberal and thought my children throwing a stuffed animal back and forth was violent) but nothing has built me as a homeschooling mother like your group did when we lived in Idaho. I'm still so grateful to have had that time with all of you and to be inspired and learn from you. What I learned there has played a large roll in how well we are able to homeschool now. Thank you, and thank you for your sweet Christmas message.
