Quetzalli" is one of the most popular folklorico companies touring out of Mexico. Their colorful costumes, spectacular dances, and captivating music combine to express the beautiful culture of the Mexican people.

One critic described them as "...a heady rush of tapping heels, dazzling costumes and insistent rhythms." Founded in 1985 by Maestro Hugo Betancourt, Ballet Folklorico “Quetzalli” is one of Mexico’s most popular exports, presenting hundreds of performances across the United States, South America, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean. What began as a group of eight members has grown to over 45 dancers and 10 musicians.

Ballet Folklorico “Quetzalli” de Veracruz makes connections between cultures and between people as they travel the globe. Caldwell Fine Arts is proud to sponsor this event, and hope the performance will increase appreciation for the arts of Mexico and strengthen connections between cultures in our own area.

Book Club Opportunity for 8 to 12  Year Olds

From one of our members on Facebook, Sara Sweet:

I'm interested in a book club for 8-12 year olds (maybe a 4th-6th grade reading level). Is there anything like this going on? Is anyone else interested in doing this? I'm looking for an opportunity for the kids to exchange, compare, and discuss ideas. I was thinking maybe just boys would be good because of shared topics of interest, but am open to girls participating too especially depending on how many are interested! We could include things like a character dress-up day, or related fieldtrips, etc. We could meet at the Nampa or Ada Community Library a certain day every or every other week or once a month?

(Please e-mail dhsa.news@gmail.com if interested in participating, and I’ll pass your info on to Sara.)
