Upcoming Events:
Mothers’ Meeting: End of Year Mom Party and DHSA Elections/Volunteer Meeting, May 25th, 7 PM, at Katrina Laird’s house: 408 Hawthorne St. in Nampa. Congratulations, you’ve made it through another homeschool year! Unless, of course, you “do” school year ‘round—in which case—you’ve made it this far! Yay! Come join us for visiting and camaraderie with other moms who GET your lifestyle, and lots of chocolate goodies! We will also be looking for volunteers to staff the DHSA Board for the 2017/2018 school year. (Elections is really a misnomer. If you are willing to volunteer in any capacity, we’d love to have you!) DHSA is an entirely volunteer-run organization. Our activities and field trips and meetings are all planned and executed by homeschool moms just like you! We are looking to fill the following positions:
President: an actively homeschooling mother with leadership experience, currently actively involved in DHSA, familiarity with the organization’s history and vision, a passion for building up and supporting women and homeschool families, and can commit to attending most DHSA sponsored events, and all board meetings Duration of term: July 2017 to July 2018.
Vice President: an actively homeschooling mother with a strong desire to support women and homeschool families who has attended and participated in DHSA events, activities, and meetings, and can commit to attending most DHSA sponsored events and all board meetings. Duration of term: July 2017 to July 2018.
Secretary: an actively homeschooling mother with a strong desire to support women and homeschool families, and who can commit to attending most DHSA sponsored events and all board meetings. Duration of term: July 2017 to July 2018.
Other positions available, as determined by members’ needs/interests:
Teen Activity Coordinators: preferably two or more people who love teens and can commit to planning and executing monthly or bi-monthly teen activities (with the support of the DHSA board and other interested parents and teens.) Duration of term: September 2017 to May of 2018.
Preschool Parents Coordinators: preferably one or more people who can commit to planning regular meet ups for moms of littles, who are just beginning their homeschool journey and want to make connections and talk homeschooling options. Duration of term: as determined by need.
Field Trip Coordinators: preferably one or more people to plan and coordinate regular field trip opportunities—or at the very least, to look for and post community events and field trip opportunities on Facebook and via the monthly newsletter. Duration of term: one to three months between September 2017 and May 2018, as determined by number of and availability of incoming Field Trip Coordinators.
Blog/newsletter contributors: anyone willing to write about their homeschooling experiences or share tips and tricks as part of a regular column in our monthly newsletter or on the DHSA blog. Duration of term: one-time-only and monthly contributors are appreciated, from September 2017 to May 2018.
Party/Event Committee: preferably comprised of three or more people who enjoy event planning and can commit to planning at least three parties or activities for the 2017/2018 school year, not including the Opening and Closing Socials. Past events have included Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Beat the Winter Blahs parties, science fair, Literary Marshmallow Peep Show, and history fair. Committee will work with the Board to determine what events and when to offer. Duration of term: September 2017 to June 2018.
