Advanced Gymnastics Our family really enjoyed gymnastics at Gem State but it was a long drive from Nampa to Garden City, so I spoke with the owner at Advanced Gymnastics in Nampa, just off the Franklin exit, and she is excited to do a homeschool gymnastics class at a great price. It is $26/mo (works out to $6/session) with no registration fees. Depending on interest, she will have 2 or 3 classes based on age and ability held at the same time - on Wednesdays at 3:30-4:20pm. Please let me know if you are interested (even if the time doesn’t work for you, as we may be able to schedule another time if necessary). I visited the gym and they have nice equipment, and although I haven’t taken lessons there before, they are already doing classes for all ages, and have been around for several years so I have high expectations. The mission of Advanced Gymnastics is to provide a safe, positive and fun environment for children to develop self esteem, confidence and an enjoyment of fitness through sport exploration in gymnastics. Here is the link to their website for more info. www.agxcgym.comIf you’re interested, please email me with the number of children you have that would attend and we will get this moving forward. We would like to start the first Wednesday in September (Sept 7th). Thanks! Sara Sweet |

Treasurer - Janet Cox Box Tops!!!! You know those little pink tags on top of cereal, huggies, ziplocs, and hundreds of other items that say "10 cents for your school?" DHSA collects them and uses them to help pay for activities, like the upcoming opening social. You can bring them to any Mother's Meeting or most activities and pass them on to President Stacey Lytle or Treasurer Janet Cox. If each family collects just a few, it adds up quickly. Last year we earned $236 for our organization through box tops!!!! So far this year we've earned $37.
Collecting them is easy. I pointed them out to my kids and they keep an eye out for them on packages before they throw things in the trash. I have a ziploc bag taped to the inside of a cupboard that they drop them into. You can also ask grandparents or friends to save them for us. Stores, like Albertsons, also sometimes offer Bonus Box Tops which print at the register, like a receipt from the catalina machine. These have a bonus code that you can register online and are often worth $5. You can register and enter them yourself and designate the money to go to DHSA. You can also turn them in at Mother's Meetings and we will enter them, but beware that these often have expiration dates that come faster than regular box tops.
For example, right now Albertsons has a promotion running where you get 10 Bonus Box Tops when you purchase any 10 General Mills Box Tops for Education products. It runs from now until 4/20/2012. If you purchase any 10 General Mills Box Tops for Education products in one transaction, the online redemption code prints at checkout.
You can see our progress at http://www.boxtops4education.com/default.aspx Enter Deseret Homeschool Association in the Find Your School field, and it will show Nampa, Idaho. |
